Protests at Grand Central Station and elsewhere in New York City hashtagged on Twitter as #J31 and #FTP3 pretended to protest the targeting of minorities for superficial subway violations, such as fare-jumping. In fact, the anarchist protesters demanded free subway rides without any police presence. They disrupted working commuters and caused damage to city property by prying open emergency subway exits and vandalizing and sabotaging Metrocard readers with Superglue. At least nine people were arrested. Subway fares for ordinary people are currently $2.75 if purchased as a single ride.

The sham impeachment “trial” of Donald Trump concluded, sort of.  Spoiled, angry Democrats who couldn’t accept that Trump won the presidency in 2016 or that he hasn’t been removed from office yet managed to delay until Wednesday a final vote to “acquit” so they can manufacture more “bombshells” in a Hail Mary pass. The hoaxes never end with the Deep State.

Countdown to Brexit, which finally happened on January 31, 2020, three prime ministers, two general elections, and three and a half years after the referendum. There were repeated threats to have another referendum in this period as if to tell voters there’d be referendums until they got the answer right.  Boris Johnson counted down the final moment before departure from the E.U. in a 100,000 quid Brexiteer celebration in Parliament Square and Downing Street light show where the Remainers presumably remained home.  A 50p commemorative coin was issued which was inscribed with  “Peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations.”  Marriage is always easier than divorce, however, so time will tell.

Corona virus, which suddenly appeared in late 2019, continues to spread and spook the financial markets, though death tolls are far less than for the flu. China is enforcing its quarantine with drones. Some speculate a virus purchased from Canada was weaponized in China and accidentally escaped Wuhan’s lab.  Wall Street’s bull run was stalled, followed by a dead cat bounce yesterday.

Oh, and John Delaney suspended his presidential campaign, perhaps because no one cares.

It’s the End of May. Hope Springs Eternal in the U.K.

Speculation as to when British Prime Minister Theresa May will resign has been a matter of international intrigue for quite some time. The smart money is probably on a resignation in the next few days, perhaps as early as Friday, according to U.K. media reports.

Brexit: A Lost Opportunity?

Monday, October 15, 2018

It’s hard to believe the UK’s referendum to exit the chains of the European Union was longer ago than the presidential election across the pond.

Naysayers of Brexit predicted catastrophe just as naysayers of a Donald Trump presidency did.

How did all the naysayers fare?

Not so good.
